Chewy Ginger Cookies
These chewy cookies are soft and delicately flavored with ginger.
Ingredients
- ¾ cup butter, softened (1½ sticks)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- ¼ cup molasses
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- ½ tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp. ground ginger
- ½ tsp. ground cloves
- Additional sugar for coating
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Cream the butter and the sugar.
- Beat in the egg and stir in the molasses.
- Combine the flour, baking soda, spices and salt in a separate bowl.
- Combine the wet and dry mixtures.
- Shape into small balls and roll in granulated sugar.
- Place on greased cookie sheet. Do not flatten balls.
- Bake for about 11 minutes.
