Although the thought of Halloween conjures up visions of costumed children trick-or-treating, the holiday is not only for the young: many cities and towns hold parades and festivals that offer fun for people of all ages.

Salem, Massachusetts, famous for the witch trials of 1692, is a popular destination for Halloween The city holds an an extended celebration, with costume parades, fairs, historic tours and stories.

Anoka, Minnesota, which calls itself the "Halloween Capital of the World," began its festival when celebrators tipped over outhouses and freed cattle. It is a massive affair, featuring a haunted house, a Pumpkin Carving contest, a house decorating contest and a Parade.
