National Poetry Month
Sponsored by the Academy of American Poets, National Poetry Month is a celebration of poetry that takes place each April in thousands of venues across the United States. The goals of National Poetry Month include introducing Americans to the pleasure of poetry and highlighting the legacy and achievements of American poets.
The Academy of American Poets has also launched an Almanac for National Poetry Month, which includes 30 ways to celebrate National Poetry Month. The Almanac can be found here: National Poetry Almanac
Canada's National Poetry Month is also celebrated in April and is sponsored by the League of Canadian Poets. This year's theme is "Poets in our Communities".
