Summer Seafood Festivals

Picture of Seafood

North America is blessed with thousands of miles of coastline on two oceans, both brimming with a huge variety of seafood. Although each seafood festival has its own local specialties, all have one thing in common: fresh, delicious seafood.

On the Oregon coast, the Yachats Smelt Fry serves up the small silvery fish along with music from old-time fiddlers.

Fried clams, clam cakes and steamers are featured at the Yarmouth Clam Fest along the coast of Maine where one can also watch or take part in the Maine State Clam Shucking Contest.

Shrimp is the focus of the Gulf Shrimp Fiesta in Texas, which is held prior to the opening of the shrimping season. Events include a shrimp cook-off and net mending, shrimp peeling and shrimp eating contests.
