Mashed Turnips
This is a traditional New England method of preparing turnip and is often served as a side dish with holiday turkey dinners.
Ingredients
- 2 medium turnips
- 1/2 stick butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
Instructions
- Peel turnips and cut into 1-inch cubes.
- Place in large pot and add water to cover. Cook for 1 - 1 1/2 hours or until tender.
- Drain and then mash turnips with a potato masher. Stir in butter, salt and pepper.
